“We are always evolving.” That was a teaching one day from one of Julie’s first yoga teachers. Those words were practically revolutionary. For what seemed like the first time, she understood that we could move beyond the confines of our limited thinking and our fears. That transformation is possible in every moment. And that the practices of yoga could guide us on our transformational journey.
Julie’s practice and teaching have come to combine alignment along with mindfully aligned flow. The coming together of which allows deep awareness and connection, along with creative expression. She loves the philosophy and mythology of yoga and to weave the ideas, teachings and stories into her classes and other offerings as a way to deepen our practices. Meditation and contemplation play a pivotal role, as well. She has lived, studied, and taught in the Southwest, Northeast, and most recently Missoula, MT.
An E-RYT 500, she completed her 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training with Meta Hirschl at YogaNow in Albuquerque, NM in 2007. Shortly after its completion, Julie began studying Anusara yoga and completed the 108-hour Anusara Immersion at Bhava Yoga Studio with Bea Doyle in Albuquerque. She completed her first 300 hour teacher training with Sianna Sherman in 2017 in Rasa Yoga, and is currently engaged in her second 300 hour teacher training with Christina Sell. A lover of learning, she is constantly continuing her studies in yoga, namely with Sianna Sherman and Christina Sell . Just as we are continually evolving, so is our yoga, our practice, and our relationship to it. Julie finds this vitality and dynamism very exciting!
A lover of languages and travel, too, she studied and lived in Spain and France, and it was her time in France that led her to return to the US and complete a culinary degree and receive her certification as a chef.
Whether it is in a public class, private class, workshop or retreat setting, Julie offers a space to dive deep and to connect with our truest, most authentic selves and, in turn, to connect more deeply with all that is. To cultivate strength on every level as we meet our edges with honor and humor. To generate beauty and creativity through any and every expression of a pose. From this inner strength, deep connection, and expression, we expand to live the fullest version of ourselves. Julie believes that these practices allow us to undergo inner and outer transformation, to thrive, and to shine.
